Through out our first semester of helping out the fisherman association in Nan Ao, we’ve improved the relationship between all the members in the association and also bring them a sense of “home” even they are away from home. During the Christmas event we have held for them, all of the people have enjoyed the activities and gave us some good comments and we were so happy to see all the fisherman members could relax and have some fun through the event we have prepared. However, for our second semester, we have another project that is to contact with the new comer especially in Yilan to learn about their culture and help them with sharing their culture value to the society. For me, this is another meaningful plan. As we can see, there are many new comer living in Taiwan but Taiwanese people barely know about their culture. Therefore, it is a really good opportunity to share the information to people by supporting the new comers to have a cultural market. Me and my team members are recently making the procedure of this plan and making contacts with the new comers and try to create a very attracting and interesting market. We would ask the new comers to bring their cultural food and some traditional costume to the market to exhibit. Also, we would prepare some story boards to record their personal backgrounds or cultural stories in order to let more people to know about them. We are planning to held tis market in June and we can not wait. I really hope that we can show our effort and results through out these two semester to others and at the same time motivating people to pay more attention on the issues which are related to the new comers, foreign workers and south east Asia’s culture.
